Graham Macmillan


Graham has over 30 years of consultancy experience in the UK, EU and globally in the areas of sustainability, ESG, corporate purpose, responsible business, public affairs, stakeholder engagement and corporate communications. Graham’s clients in recent years have included National Grid, Kingfisher, AstraZeneca, L’Oreal, The Crown Estate, HSBC, The Investment Association, The Association of British Insurers, Prudential, M&G and Unilever.

Graham was a director for many years at Fishburn Hedges before co-founding the award-winning consultancy Open Road where he was CEO. He sold Open Road to Blue Rubicon in 2014 and Blue Rubicon then became part of the global consultancy Teneo. While at Teneo, Graham helped to develop the sustainability and ESG practice areas in the UK, EU and globally and worked with a wide range of clients on net zero, biodiversity, sustainable finance and corporate purpose as well as a range of communications issues and UK / EU and global public policy areas including the EU Green Deal, UK net zero strategies and COP.

Graham has partnered with and done pro bono work in recent years for a range of NGOs and charities including Blueprint for Better Business, Forum for the Future, the Sustainable Markets Initiative and The Purposeful Company. Graham has also studied twice with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL).
